The Ružomberok – Malinô Brdo resort subtitled Ski & Bike is a part of cadaster Ružomberok – Veľká Fatra and is situated in the altitude from 545 to 1209 meters m.a.s.l. You can find the resort in lower Liptov at the foot of Veľká Fatra moutain range. It is a place of relax not only for domestic, but foreign tourists as well. The entrance of the resort is the city district Hrabovo situated only 1 km from the city center.
You can take a lift from Hrabovo to Malinô Brdo with state-of-the-art 1,770 m long 8-person gondola cableway that transports 1,500 persons per hour. 4-person chairlift, 2 ski lifts and 4 lifts for beginners and children are situated directly in the center of the resort. Interesting events and competitions are organized for all visitors during the weekends and holidays.
The resort offers 12 km of slopes with the longest amounting to 3900 m. It surpasses the height difference of 698 m and is one of the longest slopes with artificial snow in Slovakia. Surroundings of Malinô Brdo offer excellent opportunities for cross country skiing, hiking and skitouring. The attractive places worth seeing include the wooden municipality Vlkolínec, a walk around Sidorovo and ski tour or cross country passage to Smerkovica.
In 1964 the Municipal National Committee in Ružomberok issued a building permit for the construction of the cabin cableway and so there was a hope for Ružomberok to have a high quality ski complex. The total costs amounted to CZC11.4 mil. and the project was supposed to be developed in 2 years. In1996, by decision of the local council, Športcentrum was transformed into a joint stock company, which opened new ways of funding and developing this resort. In 2001-2002, after a significant investment and reconstruction, Malinô Brdo moved among the top resorts in Slovakia and it keeps this trend until today.
